USA Gymnastics announces women’s Olympic team roster for artistic gymnastics

ST. LOUIS, June 27, 2021 – Four-time Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles of Spring, Texas/World Champions Centre will headline a U.S. team comprised of World gold medalists Sunisa Lee of St. Paul, Minn./Midwest Gymnastics Center and Grace McCallum of Isanti, Minn./Twin City Twisters and 2021 breakout star Jordan Chiles of Vancouver, Wash./World Champions Center. 2016 Olympic alternate MyKayla Skinner of Gilbert, Ariz./Desert Lights was named to the +1 quota spot, and Jade Carey of Phoenix, Ariz./Arizona Sunrays has unofficially earned a nominative spot from the International Gymnastics Federation to represent the U.S. in individual events.

Biles (118.098) and Lee (115.832) claimed automatic berths as the top-two all-around finishers after two days of competition. Chiles’ 114.631 landed her third, while McCallum edged Skinner by .300 to finish fourth.

Biles posted high scores on vault (30.849) and floor exercise (29.966), while Lee notched the top spot on uneven bars (30.200) and balance beam (29.466). Skinner was second on vault with a 30.416, and Chiles was runner-up on uneven bars with a 28.733. Eaker posted a 14.400 on day one and 14.566 on day two to secure the second spot on balance beam. Wong finished behind Biles on floor exercise, delivering a combined 28.166.

The artistic gymnastics competition at next month’s Tokyo Olympic Games begins July 24.
